Walking History –
Gizeh

There’s a reason the Gizeh was named after an Egyptian city. It’s because thong sandals have a pretty long tradition. The roots of this type of footwear date back to Egypt in the year 1400 BC. Its form has clearly proven itself for thousands of years.

the Gizeh is a stylish all-rounder

That’s why BIRKENSTOCK revived and reinterpreted this extremely comfortable and functional principle at the beginning of the 1980s. And since then the Gizeh has become a permanent fixture on shoe racks around the world. Although the design and function have remained unchanged since its introduction in 1983, the Gizeh is now more versatile than ever. It comes in a number of colors and a wide range of upper materials – and can be worn at nearly every event imaginable, both inside and out. Simple, feminine, elegant or relaxed and cool: the Gizeh is a stylish all-rounder.

And the Gizeh even recently gained a big brother: with wider straps and cups, but the same proven thong, of course. It’s a true Ramses.
