Partnership with Jewelry Designer Patrik Muff Moves into Stage Two

BIRKENSTOCK will launch a new and exclusive special edition in November. Germany’s largest shoe manufacturer will tempt fans of quality luxury sandals into a world of maritime symbolism with a strictly limited-edition collection. The designer range consists of extremely sophisticated designs of two classic BIRKENSTOCK models: the Arizona (two versions) and the Gizeh. The handmade buckles are crafted from solid 925 sterling silver in the metalwork studio of jewelry designer Patrik Muff.

All three special-edition models stand for pure materials and are the epitome of all things BIRKENSTOCK. The premium footbed, covered with white leather of the finest quality, provides the high level of comfort you would expect of BIRKENSTOCK. At the same time, it creates an attractive visual contrast to the upper material. This consists of top-quality, through-dyed and oiled natural leather in navy blue. The non-slip super-grip sole with a sawtooth profile ensures excellent traction and good cushioning on all surfaces. The brilliant white sole forms a colorful contrast to the high-quality leather upper, which is at least three millimeters thick.

The most striking difference between the luxury sandals compared to the standard models that inspired the special edition by Patrik Muff is the handmade buckles. These are crafted from solid sterling silver, which contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other precious metals. The material alone creates an aesthetic break with the leather upper, as does the eye-catching design of the buckles, which is so distinctive of Patrik Muff. With regard to form, the jewelry designer found inspiration in the symbolism of historic sailor culture. The buckles of the Arizona model may feature anchors or boating knots, while the buckles of the Gizeh model are decorated with an anchor.

The Gizeh model for ladies is available in EU sizes 36-40 (RRP €499) with a narrow footbed. The ladies’ versions of the Arizona model come with a narrow footbed in EU sizes 37-41 (RRP €699), while the men’s version comes with a normal footbed in EU sizes 41-46. These sandals can be obtained through selected partners and directly from BIRKENSTOCK. In [your country] the collection is distributed through. This special edition represents the second collaboration of its kind with Patrik Muff. BIRKENSTOCK launched its first collection with the Swiss jewelry designer two years ago. Patrik Muff has lived and worked in Munich since 1998. After training as a goldsmith, he studied art in Cologne. While he was at university, he opened his own pub with fellow students. The legendary “Königswasser” became a meeting place for those in the German art scene back then. In addition to his own collections, he works on projects with well-known artists and brands. Jewelry by Patrik Muff is available from his studio in Munich and selected galleries.
