THE NEW BIRKENSTOCK PLANT IN PASEWALK STARTS OPERATIONS ON SCHEDULE

Linz am Rhein, Rhineland-Palatinate / Pasewalk, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, September 5, 2023 - After a construction period of only around 17 months, the new BIRKENSTOCK production facility in the Berlin-Szczecin industrial park near Pasewalk is starting operations today as planned.

BIRKENSTOCK began preparatory work and earthworks in April last year, and in August 2022 the foundation stone was laid for the largest single investment in the history of the company, with a volume of almost 110 million euros. Now the scheduled commissioning of the new production facility in the Berlin-Szczecin industrial park near Pasewalk has begun.

Initially, the plant will start with a team of around 200 employees, who will work in both the production and administrative areas. Subsequently, capacities in Pasewalk will be gradually expanded as part of a ramp-up process up to a level of around 1,000 employees in the medium term. In parallel, the plant in Görlitz will change its focus and will be completely converted to cork-latex production.

After the last official approvals were granted last week, the official handover of the plant from the executing construction company to BIRKENSTOCK took place yesterday. This now clears the way for the start of series production of BIRKENSTOCK products "Made in Pasewalk".
