SPÄTSCHICHT 2021: a peek behind the scenes of BIRKENSTOCK’s production site in Görlitz
On 05 November 2021, companies in the region around Görlitz once again opened their doors to the public: within the framework of the Spätschicht (“evening shift”) event, Germany’s largest shoe manufacturer welcomed visitors to its central production site in Görlitz – needless to say, all in compliance with the applicable coronavirus regulations. Around 100 visitors took the opportunity to not only learn more about the production processes of the popular sandals with the legendary footbed but also about the various possibilities to join the largest private employer of the Upper Lusatia region as a trainee or an employee.
In cooperation with the municipal economic development offices of Görlitz, Weißwasser, Zittau and Ebersbach-Neugersdorf, BIRKENSTOCK, as one of 37 companies, once again took part in the so-called companies’ open house. The concept: specialists from various companies answer all kinds of questions about employment opportunities and traineeships – and visitors are allowed to peek behind the scenes. The event was brought into being for pupils, university students, job seekers and everyone living in the region.
For BIRKENSTOCK, the event was a welcome opportunity to recruit young talents: the largest BIRKENSTOCK site trains young people to become mechatronics engineers, electricians and shoemakers. In view of the company’s strong growth, BIRKENSTOCK is not only constantly on the lookout for new employees joining the production team but also for qualified skilled workers such as mechanics, mechatronics engineers and other technicians.
Information on current trainee positions and other vacancies can be found on the company's career pages.
