Following the successful launch of the first collection which had its global premier at the BIRKENSTOCK BOX in Los Angeles, the Birkenstock x Rick Owens collaboration extends to a second season. With season one, the focus was on corrupting iconic Birkenstock styles with a Rick Owens take. The second season will have a focus on new developments, as Rick has re-designed the cult new ROTTERDAM sandal and the ROTTERHIKER boot. A shaggy suede Birkenstock Arizona handdipped by the Rick Owens Studio will also form part of what will be a compelling second season.
‘I keep looking for a balance between responsibility, wellbeing and hedonism and pursuing this collab feels like a good way to go there’, says Rick Owens. The full collaboration will be revealed at a later date and will be showcased in retail installations with select partners worldwide. ‘The first collection has been such a success, both in terms of visibility and commercial reach. All bespoke BIRKENSTOCK x Rick Owens styles will be available from December 2018.
