Birkenstock and Rick Owens celebrated the opening of the BIRKENSTOCK BOX X RICK OWENS in Los Angeles with a party hosted by Owens’ wife and business partner Michéle Lamy and W Magazine Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi. Guests were treated to a one-night revival from Les Deux Cafe, the Hollywood staple once run by Lamy in the 1990’s.

While enjoying music by NTS radio, which was also broadcasted live, complimentary foot massages using Birkenstock Natural Skin Care products were offered to guests and captured by photographer Paul Kooiker. In addition to the collaboration products, the BOX will also house a special ready-to-wear capsule collection designed by Rick Owens. The ready-to-wear will be sold exclusively at the Box which is open from April 17th – April 21st, 2018. Designed by Gonzalez Haase AAS, the BOX will be located outside the Rick Owens store at 819 N. La Brea Avenue. The BOX consists of converted freight containers. In this site-specific iteration, the Box’s interior was designed by Rick Owens and incorporates the retail design elements from the Rick Owens New York store. Following BIRKENSTOCK BOX stops in Berlin with Andreas Murkudis, New York with Barneys New York and Milan with 10 Corso Como, the Los Angeles outpost offers yet another unique viewpoint on design and architecture. It will also feature a Limited-Edition Cosmetics Kit, as well as a curated edit of BIRKENSTOCK Spring / Summer 18 styles.
