BIRKENSTOCK and the Hotel Il Pellicano launch the IL DOLCE FAR NIENTE collection for SS19

The Italian Dolce Vita takes shape in a unique collection which is the result of a collaboration between BIRKENSTOCK and Marie-Louise Sciò, hospitality consultant, CEO and Creative Director of Pellicano Hotels Group, including the iconic Hotel Il Pellicano in Tuscany. What brings the two brands together is Marie-Louise’s love for BIRKENSTOCK and a common passion for high quality materials and timeless aesthetic.

“BIRKENSTOCK for me is a way of thinking, similar to mine and to our hotels. Less is more.  It’s not about trends and seasons it’s about timeless quality. I wear BIRKENSTOCK all the time in the summer but I needed a more elegant version of the shoe that could be worn day and night with elevated materials such as raffia, silk etc. My dream has been to design a BIRKENSTOCK with these characteristics that reflect our hotel style and it’s come true!”– says Marie-Louise Sciò.

The spirit and mood of the hotel have been translated into Arizona sandals exuding simple chic, capturing the understated style and elegance of Hotel Il Pellicano. Sandals that can be worn from day to night. 

The collection innovates with the first ever Natural Raffia Arizonas, engraved in leather with a high level handmade finish. Bright red and Black Satin Silk Arizonas reflect on the Pellicano summer nights. Further styles are Soft Suede and full leather Navy Arizonas, as well as the Navy EVA style for beach days at Porto Ercole. Seven designs are set to be launched, in an exclusive partnership with MATCHESFASHION.COM and Hotel Il Pellicano, both stocking the full collection – a weekend celebration of IL DOLCE FAR NIENTE and the partnership between BIRKENSTOCK and Marie Louise Sciò.  

The collection is set to be launched on the MATCHESFASHION.COM pre-order from May 15th and launching officially June 15th worldwide. BIRKENSTOCK and the Hotel Il Pellicano will also showcase the collection, together with a custom set design, in the Atrium at the newly-opened Galeries Lafayette store on Champs Elysées from June 24th to July 13th.
