BIRKENSTOCK and Barneys New York celebrated the launch and US debut of the BIRKENSTOCK BOX x Barneys New York collaboration, a mobile retail concept located at 90 Gansevoort Street directly across from the Whitney Museum of American Art.
A distinguished crowd gathered on Saturday, September 9th to fete the occasion. Guests included CEO and president of Barneys New York Daniella Vitale, Barneys New York Fashion Director Marina Larroudé, Stefano Tonchi, editor in chief of the W magazine, Vogue fashion critic Suzy Menkes, Cecilia Dean from Visionare, the exceptional blogger Leandra Medine, Fashion Director of British Vogue Venetia Scott as well as the models Maartje Verhoef, Julia van Os and Elise Crombez.
BIRKENSTOCK BOX, designed by Gonzalez Haase AAS, consists of stacked, converted freight containers, featuring a site-specific interior designed by Barneys New York Creative Director, Matthew Mazzucca. Architecturally the vertical lines of the containers’ shell directly complement the façade of the Whitney.
BIRKENSTOCK BOX x Barneys New York remains open through September 12th, 2017. It carries the co-created limited-edition Birkenstock shoes, along with a curated assortment of exclusive Barneys New York merchandise, including designer ready-to-wear, handbags, accessories and beauty. The BOX will exclusively carry the BIRKENSTOCK NATURAL CARE skincare line. The foot and hand creams will only be available at the BOX and on Barneys.com until their global launch in 2018.
