BIRKENSTOCK and the European University of Applied Sciences (EUFH) in Brühl near Cologne are now joining forces to train the next generation of managers at the company. The program, which combines theory and practice, starts in the upcoming winter semester. The first students will then be embarking on the Industrial and Logistics Management courses, which include on-the-job training at the company’s headquarters in Neustadt (Wied).
In the three-month practical phases of the dual-study program, the students will have the opportunity to learn all about Germany’s largest footwear manufacturer and, for example, follow the famous cult sandals all the way from materials purchasing through to sales. The new students can look forward to exciting prospects in a traditional family business whose history can be traced back to 1774, but that is also growing extremely strongly and whose products are available in almost 100 countries around the world. Alongside its legendary cork sandals, the inventor of the footbed also offers bags and legwear – and has recently added sleep systems and natural cosmetics to its range.
BIRKENSTOCK now only generates about a quarter of its revenue in Germany, with the lion’s share of its products sold abroad. However, the vast majority of the nearly 4,000 employees still work in Germany. In light of increasing globalization, the company is, however, further building up its presence in foreign markets – with international career opportunities opening up as a result. On the careers section of the company website, www.birkenstock-group.com, motivated and talented individuals can find out more and apply directly for the program, provided that they are studying at EUFH.
The program starts in the winter semester. Before being accepted onto the bachelor’s degree program, candidates must have successfully completed the university’s own assessment center. The degree program and on-the-job training at Birkenstock last three years and include intensive foreign language and personality development training.
