BIRKENSTOCK BOX CONTINUES ITS JOURNEY TO MILAN WITH 10 CORSO COMO AND KRIS RUHS

BIRKENSTOCK’s mobile, spatial retail concept opens at 10 Corso Como on September 16TH and runs through September 30th. In celebration of the launch, there will be a private event during Milan Fashion Week on September 20th.

In this site-specific iteration, the BIRKENSTOCK BOX is located at the historical Porta Garibaldi in Piazza XXV Aprile, a few steps away from 10 Corso Como.

Says Carla Sozzani, “10 Corso Como is proud to work together with Birkenstock, who has a nice long history.”

BIRKENSTOCK BOX, premiered with Andreas Murkudis in Berlin, and was followed by a US launch in partnership with Barneys New York. Created by architects Gonzalez Haase AAS, the BOX consists of a converted freight container which is customized at each location with partnering store’s interior concept. The 10 Corso Como BIRKENSTOCK BOX features a unique interior designed by Kris Ruhs, and will carry six styles of the co-created limited edition Birkenstock shoes, along with a curated assortment of 10 Corso Como logo products , including designer ready-to-wear, handbags and accessories.

The custom-created interior of the BOX reflects the whimsical sensibility of 10 Corso Como. Responsible for all visual aspects of 10 Corso Como spaces worldwide from Milan to Asia, Kris Ruhs blurs the line between art and design and transforms ideas into physical experiences. Not limited to one medium he creates furniture that is simultaneously art.

Says Kris Ruhs, “Bringing design to the streets of Milano, Birkenstock Box was a fun project to work on.”

In addition to the site-specific interior, Carla Sozzani applied the graphic language of 10 Corso Como to six different versions of the classic Arizona style. Limited to 500 pieces each the sandal is a fashion statement as unique as the world of 10 Corso Como itself. Playing with 10 Corso Como’s signature logo and recognizable patterns by Kris Ruhs, the Arizona is kept in black and white, with black napa leather lining and a special 10 Corso Como stamp in the heel.
