Last week, the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) hosted the AAFA American Image Awards at the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City to celebrate and acknowledge the accomplishments of the fashion and retail industry. This year’s honorees have been selected as they exemplify the future development of the industry. On this occasion, BIRKENSTOCK was honoured with the American Image Award as company of the year in recognition of its incredible growth over the last five years and its steady stream of exciting brand initiatives, which lead to tremendous market momentum.
David Kahan, Managing Director BIRKENSTOCK Americas, emphasized the company’s DNA consisting of consistent comfort after having accepted the award that was presented by the evening’s host, actress Brooke Shields: „Here I am, in a room filled with the who’s who of the fashion world. And ironically, the company of the year is one that just a short while ago every fashion writer around the world said, it’s the ugliest shoes they had ever seen. BIRKENSTOCK is a very unique product. We are a very unique company. I would like to thank the millions of people who wear our product. You are not just our fans, you are passionate brand missionaries. And all we are committed to is remaining innovative and bringing great products to the market that bring you happiness and satisfaction.”
