BIRKENSTOCK’s concept stores bring together the brand’s core values tradition, function, and quality—with the distinct character of each city to create a one-of-a-kind retail environment. Following Harajuku, Shinjuku, and Nagoya, the fourth concept store in Japan will open in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. Spanning two floors, this flagship location—one of the largest street-level stores in the country—offers a full line-up that embodies the brand’s aesthetic.
Opening on Friday, April 3, 2026, the Shinsaibashi Concept Store marks BIRKENSTOCK’s 12th permanent directly operated store in Japan, following the Ikebukuro store that opened earlier this February, as part of the brand’s continued retail expansion.
Located in Osaka—Japan’s second-largest and most dynamic city—the store spans two floors and offers one of the largest retail spaces in the country. Alongside the main collection, it features the premium 1774 line as well as Care Essentials, the foot and body care range made from 100% naturally derived ingredients. Together, these collections express the brand’s philosophy, rooted in enabling walking as nature intended.
The interior is defined by a refined minimalism that brings BIRKENSTOCK’s craftsmanship and materiality to the fore. A predominantly white colour palette is complemented by traditionally crafted earthen walls, while signature elements such as cork and the brand’s distinct bone pattern are carefully integrated throughout the space. Introducing an organic counterpoint to the gallery-like setting are sculptural stools and fixtures by wood artist Naruki Takahashi. Each piece, carved from solid wood, is one of a kind—resonating with BIRKENSTOCK’s enduring purpose to enable people to walk naturally. Despite its central location, the store offers a calm, grounded atmosphere where visitors can engage with the products at their own pace.
The first floor features a dedicated Care Essentials area, where customers can experience the foot and body care products firsthand. On the second floor, a wide range of styles—from iconic models to the latest designs, including sandals, clogs, shoes, and boots—allows customers to take their time in finding the perfect pair. The BIRKENSTOCK Shinsaibashi Concept Store offers a distinctive retail experience unique to the brand’s concept stores.
To celebrate the opening, customers who spend JPY 22,000 (tax included) or more will receive a limited-edition tote bag inspired by the BOSTON, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and the LONDON, marking its 40th anniversary. Quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
